First theme:
"Tracer Twine for locate metal pipes route"

The importance of the tracer twine for locating metal pipes is very high.
In November 2009 at Timisoara contest we've made a proposal of a theme regarding thread detection.

To be able to make a detection of a pipe you must know the pipe route, length, material, etc...
The new HDPE pipes are or should be provided with detection wire (tracer twine with metallic tracer wire).

We went to the reception work, trying to see if the thread was mounted. We had some "unpleasant" surprises and we analyzed the resulting situation. (interrupted wire, an existing wire but very thin, etc).

OUR CONCLUSIONS:
- Each nonmetallic and metal-pipe (ductile iron is mixed with rubber rings, wich don't allow the detection signal). To be able to detect the signal the pipe must be provided with tracer wire
- Tracer wire must have a minimum thickness of 0.3 mm, and to be constructed of copper
- The connections between the pieces of wire must be made dezizoland wires and tying them together
- It is recommended that the tracer wire to have contact with the ground (to be stripped and to be able to connect to the hydrants, to introduce a (metal) nail approximately of 200 m in 200 m to allow connecting thread, the connection wire have to be connected with the wire from the pipelines, leaving the combination strip)
- The wire should be positioned on the pipe (bound with gutter) to be able to use the method of rendering pipeline depth
- There are situations in which wire detection can be achieved even if the above elements are not met (for example in an area where is no underground household (cables, pipes, etc.))
- Each new work should be checked to see if the wire is inserted properly and can be useful in routing pipe location

We did the following experiment:
- we've stretched a wire of 50m long, 0.3 mm thick, made by copper
- we made the galvanic connection to the wire, and the end of the wire was held in the air
- We've generated a frequently on the wire and we tried to find the wire with the receiver
- As long as the wire have no thread wuth the ground, it could not be detected even at a distance of 1cm
- When we made the connection to the ground, the wire was locate withouth anyproblems

There are effective devices, been able to locate nonmetallic pipes?
The attachment is for working principle of routes locators.

I'm waiting your impressions and opinions on this topic.
